So can anyone tell me what kind of plec I have please? I've bben looking at various pics on google and am coming down on the side of a clown plec myself.

Excuse the poor quality could only get a pic on my phone he's not out all that often!

Looks like a clown pleco to me.

Definetly a clown pleco...i'm pretty sure their diet consists mostly of wood so make sure you've got some in your tank! Other than that though, I really like them, looks like you got a nice one too!

looks like a clown. i just picked one up myself this past week. i haven't really seen him much since i have a big piece of driftwood with lots of caves.

thanks guys!
Confirmed my suspisions. I shall go out tommorrow and get a nice big bit wood for him!

Clown Pleco. Also called a Ringlet plec.. proper name is panaque maccus. Great little fish to have and I'm glad you're getting him some wood. The panaque family actually eats wood as part of their diet. He'd also enjoy some algae wafer, occasional bits of zuchini, shrimp pellets every now and then, and peas if he's feeling ill. You'll find once he gets used to your tank, and comfortable in his cave, you'll start seeing a little more of him. I keep five of them.

I had a clown pleco for years. Had it in a 45 gallon high that was well planted. I hadn't seen him in a while when I had to move. I bagged up all the fish and drained the tank. He was no where to be found. I left all the gravel, ornaments and plants in the tank (just took out all the water) and transported to my new pad. Filled the tank back up, put the fish back in and everything was great.

A few days later I saw the little clown pleco. He survived the move despite being out of the water for more than 45 minutes...

Thanks for all the responces guys! Got a nice bit wood for him last week and turned the light on and there he was sitting on it thie past couple of mornings!

be able to get some better pics now!!!
