ferts are one key. root tabs might help. more light co2 and ferts going to speed it up.

:iagree: I have hair grass in all my tanks and it takes a while to get going. Lights and co2 are the key to get it growing well. Once it has carpeted the bottom I find you can cut back on the light but without co2 it doesn't grow all the fast at all. If you want to use root tabs, try "Jobe's Plant Food Spikes" for Ferns & Palms 16-2-6. They are a lot cheaper than aquarium root tabs and work fine.
alright will try and give it more light since before my hydrocotyle would float up and cover the whole top.
Plecosterone: i tried looking for the jobes thing today at homedepot and no luck. Will try a local garden center. Is there anything else thats similar to that but of different brand?

I am not sure of any other brand, but I am sure there are some out there. Jobe's plant food spikes are 16-2-6 (Nitrogen-16, Phosphoric Acid-2, Soluble Potash-6) You can probably try something else but be careful on the Phosphates. That is one reason the fern and palm sticks work well (low phosphates).
i wouldnt use those. i was thinking of using them but after read up on some of the stuff in the jobes spokes its not worth it. another thing if you disturb them at all can cause algae out break with the spiked levels.

I used them for years with no problems but stopped only because I found that ANY root tabs are not needed.
