Ok this is the deal, a 72 gl bow tank ben running for a year. Water test show null for amonia and the other stuff. For three weeks now a groper, loinfish and a trigger have not ate a thing. My friends have tried diffent foods including live food. The grouper and trigger ate them after a while but, the loinfish didn't. The loinfish is now turning black and its fins are detaring away.

Assuming everything is ok, I have no idea. But I would do a complete work up on the tank and double check the parameters with another test kit.
Ammonia and Nitrites = 0
Nitrates = Low, less than 40ppm
pH = 8.2, 8.3
Alkalinity = 7 to 10 dKh (3.5 meq/l??? not sure on that)
Salinity 1.022 - 1.024
Temp - 77 to 81 degree's and stable.
My first guess would be a drastic tempurature change. Perhaps the power went out for a few hours and no one knows. But if water quality isn't an issue I have no idea what is.
Are the fish to big for a 72 gallon bow? A 10 inch Lion is not suitable for that size tank, as well as a large trigger or grouper.
I'm sure others will have some ideas. But figure out your water params.

thanx for the replay 114 on the 3
all are still young and small. I beleave they plan on moving them to a bigger tank when they buy one.
trigger is a pink tale 5"
minni, stawberry gouper 7"
Volitan loinfish 5"
Ammonia and Nitrites = 0 yes
Nitrates = Low this is what i have ben told
pH = 8.2 stable
Alkalinity = FO
Salinity 1.021 stable
Temp - 78 stable but, temp was changed when they did a water change they hit the heater. Although all symtoms where happing a week befor the water change.
I think out of the 3 fish the loin is best one to be in the tank. There not messy eaters and there slow moving. The pink tale is boarder line but, the grouper will need a bigger tank.
