Hello everyone--I'm new here.
I was just wondering if I could add eco-complete to the gravel I already have when setting up my new aquarium. I have just ordered a bunch of plants and am a horticulturist, but really have no experience growing them in an aquarium. I know it is supposed to be a total substrate on its own but it is way too expensize for me to use alone. If it won't be affective at a rate of about 1 lb. per gallon, than I may just but laterite. What do you think?
Thanks,
Krista

I think it will be fine mixed with other gravel.

I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work. It may settle "weird" (I don't know how to explain but eco complete has a lot of fine particles). Can't see that being an issue for plants though.

You will need a 50/50 mix for the Eco to be effective. If you dont use that much you might as well not bother using it at all.
