After learning that my wet/dry filter does not work as a protein skimmer, I orderd a skimmer. The skimmer was supposed to arive today, and was deliverd without a signature. Well I guess someone needed a protein skimmer more than I did, the only thing I can figure is that it has been stolen. I noticed today, there is some funk floating in my wet/dry filter sump. I am not going to be able to get another skimmer in for a few more days now. I hope in my ignorance, that I am not going to have to start over with my cycle. I have been cycleing now for about 18-20 days. Do you guys think I have screwd the pooch?

No, your pooch is not screwed. The bacteria in the sand and rocks will be fine without a skimmer. They'll probably find the gunk in your sump rather tasty.
Sorry that your skimmer got stolen.

A lot of people don't add a skimmer to their tanks for a month or two after it's up and running. Not sure why but I've read that recommendation many places. Some even suggest waiting 4 months, www.garf.org I believe is who makes that long of a waiting time recommended.

Don't worry if you don't get it in there right away, but do worry about it's where-a-bouts. That sucks! Sorry to hear your having UPS troubles. I could tell you all about how they screwed me out of 520 dollars but I won't right now.
