I got mine today, wanted to get it started right away as I am not sure my cichlids have not spawned ( she is hold up in a decoration and I can not see.)
I put it in the water, and its floating instead of sinking. its got a weighter bottom, and there fgor I thought would sink. how do I keep it down???

is the sponge saturated?
I have a few of these and never had any issues with them.
others use suction cups to help them (designed that way)

sounds obvious, but you have to squeeze the air out of the sponge while its underwater for it so sink.

I agree with msjink. When its in the water, just squeeze the sponge a few times. Theres trapped air in it.

I finally got it down, I squeezed and did what I knew how to do, finally I have a pot holding it down . I am so happy its here, soon as its full of bio I can put it in my ten gallon tank! I say what a month?

A month is best, but two weeks would probably be sufficient.
