What deal sounds best??

Well my luck is very odd. I got a 20 and a 4.5 gallon tank for free. They came with NOTHING though so it's cheaper for me to go out and buy a whole kit and new tank instead of each accessory minus the tank. So here are my options:

A 30 gallon tank:
-Fluval 203 filter (this filter alone is worth over 100$ ) it's also does
a better job than aquaclear filter and saves room behind the tank

-200 or 300 ( Not sure ) heater
-3 rock inside
-ground gravel ( currently mixed with crushed corals )
-3 BEAUTIFUL pieces of wood inside of it (worth 20-30$ a piece)
-Wood Stand
-Canopy and light
---------------------------> 175$ or best offer. So I offered him $125 for it all and I'll see what he says.

A 55 gallon tank:
48 x 13 Aquarium with metal stand 55 gallon with canopy and
accesories....
Asking 250.00 for all.....Aqua clear 500/heater/power head/lights/ornaments......
So I offered him $200.

So which one do you think is more worth my money?? Thanks :>

I bought the whole 30 gallon setup for 125$ and picked it up last night. It is currently in my room and I am going to buy pearl-coloured gravel and roman-ruin decorations tonight and then maybe in a couple of days/weeks I'll get some pineapple swordtails! hurray!! I'm quite happy. The guy also offered me this REALLY large pleco but he was no use to me. Too bad!

Canadian is about 1.5 times american, so yes, they were good deals.

Canadian dollar is 70 cents american. So 125 x 0.7 = $87.50 American. Sweet deal :> Oh, yea, I should take a picture, eh? Oooh, so Canadian. Well, I'll work on getting a picture for you. I only have my danios in it now.

Did these come with stands? Or just the tanks? You can get a 55 gallon and stand at Walmart for $200 American. So just the 55 gallon tank for $200-$250 would not be a good deal.

I got a second-hand tank (less than a year in use), 55 gallon and stand, plus accessories (that were mainly scrapt) for $100 american.

If you're looking at used stuff, wait a little more...
55G basic set-up's (tank, hood, light, stand) go down to US$100 over here.
Even with a matched power filter, it's easily under US$150.
And that's for a glass tank!

We found a 55G *acrylic* that was listed as "tank, hood / light, wet / dry, stand" for US$150!
Yeah, it was a SW - the wet / dry should've been the tip-off.
The hood light was a quad CF set-up - although all the bulbs were pretty much on their last legs and needed to be replaced.
Oh, and there was a protein skimmer that was not listed.
Overall, it was still a "steal" for the money!
The wet / dry, hood light, and protein skimmer were top-line commercial stuff.
The tank was a Sea Clear acrylic.

There was a 46G acrylic bow-front for US$150, which included hood / light and filter, but there was no mention of a stand.
I looked up the price of a Tru Vu acrylic 46G bow front, and it was ~US$300 brand new.
The stand would've been expensive unless you DIY.

I just bought a brand new Sea Clear acrylic 60G, and that costed me $314 brand new just for the tank!

Considering that this thread is almost 2 years old, I'd hazard the guess that any tank for sale is long gone now.

wow..... good catch Raskol..... I was going to reply to this about hoping Yashin brought that huge pleco to some LFS or put an add out for him becasue a 30 is no place for a common.... but I would think it's a little late for that....
