how long should I wait for my sleeper goby to show up?

before getting in there and looking for him? I last saw him last night digging around under the rocks. I'm reasonably sure my rocks are pretty stable, but still, he was digging tunnels. I hope he didn't bury himself. I just fed them and he didn't come out and the other two gold headed sleeper gobies are out. Even the poor lil beaten up CBshrimp was out eating.

ETA: nevermind! He just came out, soon as I finished writing this post, I left the room and as I came around the corner to the tank, there he was, peaking out at me looking all cute!

lol thats normal goby behavior. Some can be pretty shy. Mine likes to stay in its live rock and will poke his head out a couple of times during the day. Once he settles in more you should start to see him dart out during feeding times.

Mine disappeared for several days while he built his bunker system underneath the areas of live rock he could bury.. That and collected all of the shells I had out for the hermits for his main entrance camoflage. He may disappear for a day at a time until he is satisfied with his new home...

BTW I guess I should have told you in that other thread... Resolve yourself now that how the sand in your tank looks will be up to the pair of sleepers you purchased. They are sand sifters and you will have a calmer mental state if you just let them redecorate however their fancy fits. Otherwise it could drive you mad. ;)

heehee "bunker system" Totally! :lol2: That little guy sits there looking at us and in less time than it takes to blink, he disappears under his rock and he's gone to who knows where. He's SO cute! I did get a pretty great picture of him tonight though:

:tombstone: Mr. Coral Banded Shrimp passed on to his shrimpy reward tonight. Poor little guy.

are you sure the coral banded didn't just shed? Shrimp do that quite frequently. And btw from the last pic you could very well have a mated pair.. The don't normally tolerate their own kind. So I hope you get babies out of the deal.

if it shed, would the body I found and pulled out have looked exactly like the original? I guess it's a possibility, but it sure looked like a dead one to me.

Babies would rock! I'd be like, breaking new ground in saltwater aquatics or something! LOL SURE! My stinkin Jewel cichlids, who are reportedly prolific breeders, lay eggs like once a week and still haven't managed to hatch a batch.

Yes it would but it would pull apart really easily and it would be just a shell not anything else..

didn't try to pull it apart. But I'm really pretty sure it was the shrimp. I was surprised actually, after he'd spent the day walking around the rocks and eating. But he found a spot on the back of a rock and seemed to rest there all evening. I saw him still moving his little feelers in and out of his mouth a little and by the end of the evening, I noticed he was completely still. I netted him out and the kids and I said goodbye. :(

No more impulse buys!

mine was assassinated, yours is just sleeping :)
