hi folks

ive upgraded my lighting from 2*t5 54w ho, to 4*t5 54w over my 400L (approx 2w/us gal).

two of the bulbs are juwel day and juwel nature (which came with the tank), but i havent bought any bulbs for the upgrade yet. i was wondering what combinations folk use or could recomned for this set up. would 2 5500k rating bulbs be ok or should i go one higher, one lower ? the tank will be planted,

which brings me to my next question: what plants are good indicators of defficiences in lack of light ( or indeed to much) or lack of c02 or lack of nutrients etc....

cheers

iain

what kind of k rating are those juwel day and juwel nature putting out?

do you like the look of them over your tank?

Ya if the ones now are ok use em. Id go as high as I could on the kelvin scale. I run 18,000k bulbs.

Also any plant can tell you whats up, just you have to have them for awhile and know how to read them.

most people stick with bulbs between 6500k and 10000k though it doesnt mean much it can dictate color of the tank.

thanks for the reply folks

they day, and nature ratings are 9000K and 4100K respectivley

as the tank is still empty ( ive really been taking my time getting all the bits and bobs together ) its hard to tell. :) i had been reading a thread somewhere ( no idea where now :headshake2:) where people had different combinations of lights with differing k ratings. some tanks had a pink hew to it, others were a bit washed out etc.... i'll have another look for it.

as for the plants, i know they will tell me when i need to do something to improve their health, but i was wondering is there any particular plant or plant types that will flag defficiences early on so i could take action before the rest are affected ?

thanks again peeps
