:help:ive noticed alot of copes (i believe thats what they are) and other lil critters in the overflow section of my 72 bowfront SW tank. i was wondering is there anything i can put in there that will eat them that would be able to stay in such small quarters....like invert or fish, i was thiking of putting a few piece of LR in there and maybe a fish or crab or something ....just a question, i just want everyones opinion before i really consider doing it...thanks http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif:help:

You're overflow is effectively functioning as a refugium. The abscence of predators is allowing the pod populations to bloom. Loads of pods is generally a good thing, they eat detritus and are a nice snack for the fish, so why would you want to get rid of them?

No worries, a good pod population is generally a sign of a healthy tank.

If they are coepods...they are tiny little buggers right? Then I agree with the rest of the responders it's a great thing to have.

If they are something else like flatworms or something..then maybe not so good. Can you confirm what they look like?

i just googled them and they look like copepods (pods) like 1-2mm shrimp-like critters. in my overflow i could easily count out like 50 of them, in the oveflow also looks like little sponges or something growing on the glass, i dunno, they arent growing in the tank though, just the overflow, im gonna try and get some pics tonight. :)
