I received a nutrafin natural plant system from a neighbor (new). I mixed the ingredients and connected it to my tank. I'm not sure what I'm supposed to be doing, should I let it be or what. It's diffusing a bubble I think every 5-9 seconds. I'm not sure what it's supposed to be doing, lol. Someone please advise?
Just let it be.
You have it running with the ladder correct?

yes I do
yea just leave it be, after a month or so switch out the mixture (dont waste money on the "nutrafin" mixture just make your own) Check up on the ladder to make sure no small fish/inverts are stuck behind it

here is the recipe
For the Hagen Nutrafin Canister:
Sugar to the bottom inside line,
Water to the top inside line,
1/8-1/4 teaspoon yeast
1/4-1 teaspoon baking soda

you'll probably end up switching out the mixture more like every 10 days... but yeah, just let it do it's thing. swap it when it starts to seem reaaaaly slow between bubbles.

If new to co2 theres a coupe issue to watch out for too much co2 will sufficate your fish if you see lots and lots of bubbles coming up allover the place you need to watch carefully for you hae reached optimum conditions. add to much more and you'll see the fish at the top of the tank trying to breath. co2 will also drop your ph.

I just started to notice yesterday that my guppies are hanging out on the top of the tank and some of my other fish are just hanging out in the bottom doing nothing. The rest of my fish are active. My water parameters are great so could it be their are too many bubbles being produced? How do I know if their are too many? If so how can I control it? Thanks

The bubbles areactualy o2 not co2 but inorder to get the o2 bubbles your co2 hasto beon the high side / good thing. but if you see lots of bubbles not like an airstone but the bubbles come from everwhere, and the fish are lathogic and sucking the surface of the tank then you probably need to back down the co2
