I just bought a bunch of veggies to make a stir fry and was just wondering what the pleco would enjoy. I know they like zuchinni and spinach, but I was debating trying a few other veggies as well.

Brocoli stems
Celeri
Lettuce
Cucumber
White mushrooms?

Are any of these stuff I should stay away from?

they will go crazy with the cucumber but the other I wouldn't know. Well Lectuce they might eat but doesnt have to much of an nutritional value from what ive heard. Ide hold of using anything but the cucumber til someone more nowledgeable comes on. HTH.

Iceberg lettuce doesn't have much value as it is mostly water, but other lettuces are full of goodness. Try some romain. Peas are also a good choice, and maybe some presoftened carrot as well. Put it in, see if he eats it. If he doesn't try something else.

Yeah, my pleco (L-14) goes nuts for cucumber. I am always amazed at how fast he devours a big hunk of it. Just make sure that you cut the middle part out that has the seeds. The seeds just get everywhere and make a big mess. I also peel the cucumber because I don't know what the heck has been sprayed on it at the store.

Some recommend blanching the veggies (search for blanch in this forum for the technique behind this cooking style) to get them to sink...

The cucumber and zucchini will drive your plecos crazy but their seeds will drive you crazy! (its real messy) So make sure you get the seeds out before you feed them..

Thanks for the replies, I'm going to try broccoli stalk tonight. I read of someone else who fed that to his pleco with good results.
