Something is odd about one of my angels.

The pectoral fins are...floppy I guess. They're not red, no film on them...they're just sort of shapeless compared to the other two angels' and they sort of flutter up rather that being held out to the sides.

The fish moves fine. And, FWIW, it's not new I did notice it a while ago and it doesn't seem to be changing at all. Is it just a deformity or is there some disease I'm not aware of that needs treatment?

I'll snap some tonight, tank light was off last night and I forgot this AM.

good call squawkbert.
if the fin is normally 'flopped ' over there isn't much concern.

is this a veiled angel?

typically Scalare tend not to display as much as Altums(who usually have very errct fins)..but it is also not uncommon to find flopped over fins as a trait.

Really crappy photo, it's just really hard to photograph these fins. They remind me of a Wacky Waving Inflatable Arm Flailing Tube Man with the way they're always up over his/her head this way.

The black circle is around the fin just in case it's not totally obvious, lol.

It is hard to tell from your pic's but I would have to guess from the circled area that it is a deformity. If it is the white area that you are describing as the pectorial fin, it is too high for a normal angel's pectorial fin.

The whiteish filmy area is the fin. I figured it was a deformity but I thought it wouldn't hurt to ask the experts!

is the fin root or armpit that high up ? I'm no Angel expert but I don't think that's normal; sounds like a physical deformity to me. hopefully it won't affect him/her too badly/at all.....mind not want to breed from him/her though.

really hard to tell from the pictures, has the fin always been that way or is it new?
any other marks could he have been nipped by the other angels ?
nice color and he/she has the red eye. how big is this angel

coler is right if the fin has alway been this way do not let him/her breed as this trait will be passed down to the fry
