how long do i cycle?

hey i'm startin a new 55 gal tank, i got gravel and water in it, and the filters running. Prob get some hydrilla sometime this week, which'll help with the biological start-up. How long should i cycle the tank until i add some giant danios?

You will need a source of ammonia before your cycle ever starts...

3-6 weeks to do a fishless cycle. could be longer. if you know someone with a tank already or if oyu can get some gravel from the local fish store you can speed the cycle up. read the links.
