Problem with clown fish

I just added a second false percula clown to my tank. While finishing up acclimating him, I noticed the original one has a red spot underneath his mouth. When I put the flakes in, the new clown eats them, the old one seems to go toward them but doesn't get them, it looks like he is having a problem with his mouth. Any ideas?

id qt to him asap....its prolly some type of bacteria infection...possibly the first step in mouth rot or something along them...definately not ick (srry)

i'd agree that it sounds like he needs to be moved into a qt tank. try to get a pic of her mouth so we can see what you are talking about.

I don't have a QT tank yet. The spot seems to be gone now and the fish is eating again. Only lasted a day or 2.

maybe just a bit of damage

probably just a wound from the initial stage of determining who's the more dominant clown of the two to determine sex.

I didn't think about that. I was thinking maybe a sting from one of the digitate hydroids taking over my tank.
