I was shocked to see her carrying eggs this morning. I got them about 2 weeks ago. Unfortunately she's in a community 20 gallon tank. Should I try to remove her and put her in the 1 gallon I have other cherries in or just put in loose moss and hope for the best? I couldn't find a sponge to cover the filter intake but they had a media bag that I could try. Any suggestions?

i have used media bags over the intake as well, it would be a fine short term solution. The only problem i had with it was that it tended to effect filter flow pretty quickly. Adding the moss is a good idea.

The filter is only one of the concerns, its a community tank so the fish will eat most if not all of the babies. If the 1-gallon is cycled there is no reason that moving the female to that aquarium wouldn’t work.

I agree, if your 1 gal is cycled, by all means, move her in there. If not, media bag or sponge over the filter will work and some moss should ensure the survival of a few babies at least. With moving a berried shrimp, there is always a slight possibility that she will abort her eggs due to stress, but it hasn't happened to me personally.

The 1 gallon is cycled and has other cherries in it. I caught her. I took it very slow and tried not to stress her. right now I have her floating in the 1 gallon. Lets hope for the best!!!

Thanks for your help.
