This is Libby. I was vacuuming during a water change and decided I should get under the driftwood this time around. I guess this freaked her out. This is the first I have seen her do this.

In the first picture you can't see her head at all. In the rest you can see her face popping up out of the gravel . I've heard they do this, but I have to admit, this scared the water out of me.

And now you can see her little face.

It's normal for dojos to do but it's why sand is recommended. It's easier & safer for them.

I recently added very fine gravel to the medium gravel I have to help the plants stay down. It worked. I guess she's getting the hang of things. Funny little gal.

I recently added very fine gravel to the medium gravel I have . . .

Can I ask what kind of gravel (brand) you bought? I can only seem to find medium and larger gravel around here (Milwaukee) and it is frustrating. Estes seems to be the brand everyone carries in this area.

Thanks,
JPS

try landscaping/gardening stores. some may carry brands of fine gravel/coarse sand.

No brand on the bag. My LFS bags up some himself and sells it. It was $2.99 for ten pounds. Not bad. It's so light it almost vacs up.

It was a pain to rinse clean though.
