View Full Version : RCS,plants and ferts
I have two 10g's with RCS in them, both tanks are planted;Java Moss,Java Fern,Anubias, swords, watersprite and a couple other things. Is it safe to add ferts like Flourish, etc., to the tank without harming the cherry shrimp ? I want the plants to do well and grow, but I don't want to harm the little cherries either:confused:

I have used Flourish in my shrimp tanks with no ill effect, just be sure that whatever ferts you use doesn't have a significant amount of copper in it.

Yup I dose flourish in my tank.
On another forum devoted to planted tanks a Seachem employee regularly posts and says it is safe. Dose to the directions. Members of that sight seem to have no issues.

i also agree, its good and i use it all the time. u just have to becareful when u dose with higher copper amounts like in EI dosing.
well,so far I haven't noticed anything wrong with any of the shrimp.I've just been half doing Flourish and Flourish Excell. I now have 7 berried female cherry shrimp in 2 different tanks. a 10g and a 29g that I transfered all the RCS from one 10g into..
Still thinking if I should start dosing with Flourish N-P-K or not.. since I'll be adding more/different kinds of plants
