View Full Version : Just switched from Gravel to Sand in my 125G, how does it look?
I LOVE it so far, looks much more natural. See up in the top right corner, even my Jag loves it, it looks to me like he's yelling "hell yeah, sand!!!"

Thanx, I should have gone to sand a long time ago, just cant tell you how much better and more natural it looks than gravel. The type of sand, dont think its pool sand, one of my local hobby shops sells it listed actually under very fine bulk gravel, 30 cents a pound, not bad, got 120lbs for $38! You are correct about the devil, and the pure evil black fish is a Labeo chrysophekadion. Here is its profile if you've never gotten to see one, spectacular fish, but a mean ******* too.

I had to leave em in, had nowhere else to put em, they cooperated and didnt bite me fortunatly lol

Yea, but i got your back! I have somewhat of the same mix! African and American..got two of the red devils,great fish! need a bigger tank if i were to get a Labeo..hes cool looking tho!

Well I appreciate it! Its good to meet other people who arent afraid to mix! I love my devil but Ive never tried 2 devils togeather, any fighting between them? As for the Labio, great looking fish, Id recommend one if you have the tank room for him:) Mean suckers though. Makes my devil seem like a goodwill employee lol

that actually looks allot better than the blue i had, it was dark blue! your tank looks ten times better after then b4
Thanx man, Ive wanted to change it for a long time, I was always afraid that it would be a huge undertaking though, it ended up being kind of a pain like I thought, but well worth it!

where did you find the labeo?? ive wanted a black shark since i knew what they were, but never found them for sale anywhere, lol. i know i cant get one till i can get an enormous tank, but still.. i love 'em.

Thank you for the compliment! The Labeo was indeed a difficult find. Cant find em in every place the way you can red tail sharks. Basically what I did was I snagged the yellow pages phone book, and I called every chain and hobby store in the city of Phoenix. Finally I found a place all the way across town said they had one. Drove nearly an hour 1 way to pick him up, and he was WELL worth it. Its kinda cool to have a somewhat rare fish that not everyone even knows about thats as stunning to look at as the labio. Highly recommend one if you have a 125G or bigger setup!

Love the conversion to sand. :) I've been happier with my tank ever since I made the switch... any future FW tanks I set up will likely be sand. :D

lol..yea my red devil has gotten pretty big in the last few weeks, and hes aggressive with everyone in the tank! even the munba's..(P. elongatus)..
