Yikes! Scaleless fish can be prone to this type of injury, which becomes infected. I would feed a medicated antibiotic flake food. Normally, I'd recommend moving him to a hospital tank, but I've had very poor luck with the move increasing the stress on eels. Make sure he has lots of places to hide and is getting a varied diet to improve general health.

I would step up the water changes and lower the organics dissolved in the water. Any possibility that the primary offenders are skin parasites, and that the lesions are bacterial, and secondary?

Just a thought from a non-professional...

the problem with feeding him flake food is that he doesnt eat it. he only like guppies, bloodworms, shrimp. what is a good type of medicine to get to fix this that just goes into the water?

stupid lfs guy, it was the one guy i actually didnt trust either. jerk.

Finding ways around the censors just makes more work for the mods. OG

Try feeding the guppies the medicated flake--immediately before feeding them to the eel.

Agree--increasing the water changes will help. I've never seen an eel with parasites--but that doesn't mean they don't get them. My eel would get scrapes from deciding to burrow under a large chunk of wood, and healed well within the system--disaster if I moved him.
