I was wondering if anyone can give me any information on selling baby fish

I am trying to sell some Jewel fish fry that i have and i need to know if anyone can tell me what sort of size they need to be before they are strong enough to be moved.

oh and if anyone living near Cape Coral Florida wants any just tell me :)

I'd suggest you call some LFS to get some idea of what they want, It varies from store to store and what is selling. I doubt they will take fry as they are in the business of selling fish, not raiseing them. When my Gold Gouramis spawned I found that 2" was about the min size they would take, one store wasen't interested in anything less that full sized fish  I USED to buy ALL my supplies from them, when they refused to buy fish that were larger than ones they had for sale I stopped going there. Good Luck, Steve

Hey, demon! I'd just make the recommendation that if you remove the fry, don't move all of them, unless you are ready to separate the parents...they might fight over who shirked responsibility!

You're in a tough spot as FL fish farmers are right near you, but Jewels are at least tougher to breed under the conditions that most of the fish farmers use...I would check with the individual shops, as suggested by Steve. There's also some good advice in the Catfish and Bottom Dwellers forum in a thread about extraneous Bristlenoses...I would suggest taking a look at that thread if you have the time!

When do we get our cigars?

My LFS is buying my Zebra Danios when they are 1.5 inches. Pretty much the store will buy the fry when they look like adults. So mine take ~75 days to reach that size but I assume your's will most likely take longer. Good luck!

call around, that's the best bet. or visit the local ones and speak with the owners. every store has a different policy and alot of them don't buy fish around here at least.

by jewelfish you mean hemichromis bimaculatus?
