Eggs Galore!

kjr928

Go fish yourself.
2 of my angels laid eggs all over a leaf. They are being mean to the other fish now chasing them away. I tried to tell them to wait until marriage, but obviously they couldn't help themselves.

I don't know how to take care of fish eggs or anything! Somebody give me some simple instructions!

if you can, seperate the angels from the other fish, either by way of a divider or another tank.

the parents will take cars of the eggs and the fry for quite a while. once the fry do leave the parents though, they'll be big enough to eat baby brine shrimp and other small live foods.

Odds are good in a community tank the eggs will be lunch. The angels will ven eat them before they will allow other fish to get the meal. They will also driveoff or kill any other fish that try to get close.

Angels are best spawned in their own spawning tank. failing that you could pull the eggs to a hatching tank. The real issue is do you have room to raise all those babies?

I admit I am totally unprepared for babies. How long does it take for them to hatch?

However, I do have a breeding net that hangs on the side of the tank. Is it possible for me to break off the leaf with the eggs and put it in that? This way no fish will be able to get to them. Do the eggs/fry need the parents to do stuff to them?

Also, what do baby angels eat and where do I get it?

It usually takes a few tries for them to get it right. There's also the possibility that you have a "pair" of females (sort of a prison love deal - they'll lay, even act like one's fertilizing them).

No big deal, you'll have enough time to research and prepare to raise some fry by the time they get it right. (Set up another tank, brine shrimp hatchery, etc.)
