I'm looking to add 6 to 8 Cory's to my current stock list (see my Signature below).

I really would like to get both Panda and Sterbai, 3 or 4 of each. Do you think this is an appropriate mix?

My current reading are:

Ammonia = 0
Nitrite = 0
Nitrate = 0

I do 30% water change twice a week.

Thanks.

For a 210g, you can get over 15 of each species. Is this tank heavily planted? I find it odd to see zero nitrates. What species is this albino marble algae eater? I am thinking this could be CAE in which case it must be removed to be on the safe side as it will eventually harass other fish as it matures.

I love my Sterbai but they aren't nearly as active as the Greens that I have.

I'm also wondering why your nitrates are 0. Even planted tanks register a bit of nitrates. Get more than 6 of each cory. Good luck :)

I started my 210 w/sump December 6th, 2007. I am a newbie to all this, so I am starting out with silk/fake plants. My tank did not initially cycle completely until January 11, 2008.

For monitoring water parameters I do the following:

I have a Mardel Ammonia livemeter in my sump for continuous Ammonia monitoring. It is at zero. For $5 bucks, I figured along with my temp reader, it give me a quick visual to avoid a large sudden swing

I use API FW Master Test kit every 3 days. I check PH (8.2), Ammonia (0), Nitrite (0), and Nitrate (0).... This reading was on Sunday prior to my 30% water change. I vacuum gravel (Python brand is great)with my twice weekly water changes,

The days in between using the API kit, I use Jungle Labs Quick Dip test... and I'm getting the same readings as the API kit, except the Nitrate's had just the slightest color change, so I may have 0-5 Nitrates.

I'll check parameters after work tonight and probably do my midweek water change and vacuum.

Anything I should be doing differently?

It was sold to me as "Albino Marbel Algae Eater". Basically a Chinese Algae Eater.... It's very pale colored with a few dark spots on it.

My LFS has been great.... I told him my substrate is starting to get a bit of brown color and I am getting some Brown colored algae on a few of my plants..... His suggestion was an Oto for the plants and the CAE for the substrate.

The Oto cat has been awesome... he is mowing through the brown stuff on my leaves.... He is keeping my tank "looking" great. After researching the CAE, I have some concerns regarding aggression and size...... My goal with this tank is large numbers of smaller schooling fish, along with a handful of "show" 6-8" fish (Angel's, Gourami's, ???).... So I realize the CAE may need to be returned or moved. For now..... he has been peaceful.... about 2" long and is working my substrate over and seems to be a good addition.

With a tank that size, I think you have a lot more room to spare with such relatively small fish. I'd go for 6-8 each of the Pandas and Sterbais, since they enjoy being in schools and you'll get to see some fun behavior. Same with the glowlight tetras (IIRC, your sig says you have 3?): they're a schooling fish, so they'll not only be happier, but I think they'll look quite pretty in a school of 8-10.

I envy you, btw. I've wanted to keep a really large tank with several schools of smaller fish. :drool:

The LFS guy was netting 10 neon tetras for me and he kept getting a couple of glowlights in the net, so I decided to keep those as well..... I was planning on getting their number up to 10 at a minumum on my next visit to the LFS on Saturday.

I think I'll lean on getting 6 of the Sterbai.... Sounds like he got 12-15 in on Tuesday. He is out of Panda's so I may have to wait a couple of weeks before I get those.... and I'll probably get 6 at that time.
