I'm starting to plan out my spring project (I'm not working in an unheated shop in the winter!) This will be my first major DIY job for aquariums, and more importantly, my first venture into salt water, so I'm posting here to see what changes you folks recommend.
This will be a corner unit, and I'm leaving a 4" x 4" x 4" triangle at the back to run plumbing and wires.
The tank will be a FOWLF.
I'm thinking of going with wood for the sides and back, and a 1/2" glass front.
Lighting will be a florescent fixture, and probably a blue cathode for a moonlight.
I know the design is missing details, like support beams, but I expect I'll redesign this several times before I'm ready to start construction, this is mostly to get my ideas down first, then further revisions will have full construction details, and I haven't worked out the exact dimensions I want to work with yet.
As it is, the tank should be about 20 gal, but I expect in the ent I'll have close to a 30 gal tank, maybe more if I can rearrange some other stuff in the room. I'll also have a 5 galon sump in the base of the unit (and will definatly have many more questions when I get ready to start on that!)
Right now, I'm curious to know what modifications are recommended here?
