Tigger, our Tiger oscar had a bad accident a couple weeks ago.
We don't really know what happened, but we noticed he had some marks near/around his right eye.
We just assumed he and the other oscars got in a scuffle.
After a few days, the injuries seemed to get worse, and his entire eye glazed over kinda like eye cloud. but then the eyecloud turned solid white.. (you know the little white balls in hungry hungry hippos? that's what it looked like) It also began to spread to the other eye.

At that point, we decided it was time for QT. We isolated him and went through a full course of jungle LifeGuard (a general cure-all for fungus, bacteria, etc) during which the eye-gunk seemed to break up and begin sluffing off. Unfortunately with the eyegunk, the iris of the eye sluffed off with it..
by the time the course of treatment was over, most of the gunk, and with it most of the eyes, was gone.

after a water change we moved on to melafix, and yesterday was the last dose of that. He literally looks like his eye was cut in half, flush with the surface of his head.

The worst part is that he hasn't been eating hardly at all during the course of this treatment. he's eaten 1 rosy red feeder fish, and 4 pond snails in 2 weeks. He's pale, he's thin, he's blind, and he won't eat.

What do i do?

so sorry your guy is sick. I have no idea what to do for him but I hope things work out for you and him. Hope he gets better.

Me too^

never seen this b4. sorry

oh my gosh. sounds like whatever attacked the eye killed the tissue as it spread. i am so sorry. you may want to buy some earthworms and hand-feed him. otherwise i have no answers.

I have an angel that lost an eye similar to this..injury that blinded the fish right eye.. she is fine. keep the water clear..and feed treats to get it to eat. mine didn't eat for about 2 weeks while she was healing I've seen angels go weeks without food..you'd be surprised.

what are you feeding it? or attempting to feed it?

btw, pretty much all I did was several water changes per week 3-4 so every other day.

we've tried feeding everything we've got.. there's 4 feeder fish in the tank with him, we've got his normal floating pellets that we fed him when he was in the big tank, we even crumbled one of them up into a powder.. hoping that maybe he'd at least get something in his mouth as he was breathing.

we'll pick up some worms tomorrow.

I just don't know at what point i should just give up... or at what point is he just too miserable for me to justify making him live through this any more.
This is one of those times i wish fish spoke english.

i would give it 1-2 more weeks. if Tigger was at a healthy weight before the illness, he can safely go that long without eating. if no improvement after that time, them you should look into putting him down.
