ps: he is about 5-6 inches long and still grows a little bigger.

o i see this before in a tank with bamboo shrimp i forgot the name its not vampire is it?

if yah ask me it looks more like a crayfish then a shrimp but im no exspert.

i just found out, its called a Cameroon Armoured Shrimp, also called an african filter shrimp, i think, since most animals have more than one common name.

If anyone has kept one before, can they give me tips on the shrimp just in case because this is something too big for me to lose, thanks for any help

yeah thats a vampire shrimp u got there. it requires the same care as the bamboo shrimp. it feeds by filtering particles from the water column, so u either need to supplement it with small crushed foods or it will find a good area of water flow in ur tank and just holds its filters out and eat. its not aggressive at all, and in my experience, it hides more than the bamboo shrimp does

Yep, that's a Vampire/Cameroon Armored/African Fan/African Filter Shrimp you got there. Some things have too many names.

If it's feeding normally (using it's fans in the flow), you should do alright. You can always supplement with filter-feeder food.

This is a fairly uncommon shrimp, and usually quite expensive, but $65 is extremely high.
