My chromis have taken to hiding more often than not over the last week or so. They eat fine and act ok when they are out, and no one else in the tank will hide like this. They have always darted into the rocks when someone approaches the tank, but will usually come out soon after unless I'm fiddling with the tank.
Parameters are: Nitrite, Ammonia, Nitrates all at 0, Ph 8.4, SG 1.022, and temperature around 79-80.
Any ideas or are they just idiots?
Thanks!!

Mine seem to be in and out all the time when they're not beating each other up!! I do have one that seems to "go to bed" about an hour before the others!!!

Ya one of mine is out during lights and in bed lights out. The other one comes out before lights on hangs out til mid day...takes a mid day nap comes out for a little bit again and goes back in around 6 o clock...the other one stays til about 9.

These chromies have been strange from day one...but they seem to be hiding a lot more during the day during the last week or so. They still eat and look fine when they're out, so I guess I shouldn't worry too much.
Thanks!

You know robbie my PJ Cardinals always used to hide in the back of the tank when I had LaVerne (the yellow tang).. Then I got the Anthias (I have traded that off btw.. He was just to unhappy in my tank and I didn't have the room to get him a harem) and they still stayed back there. Well the two fish that could possibly be construed as bullies in my tank are gone and they are out front and just having a blast.
Has this activity only happened since you put the puffer in?

I would agree with all the posts, there are simply to many possibilities to say exactly why yours are hiding. FIsh have there own personality and habits - if its something new that they didnt previously do I would lean towards being threatened by a tank mate (probably the puffer, maybe the angel), How is the cardinal behaving? I would think it would be one of the first to hide with a bully in the tank
