A background added to either tank would make for a large improvment, as far as looks go.

I agree on adding a background. The tank looks great and the fish look happy!!! Good job!

what kind of background do you suggest? I was thinking a dark deep green almost black, to match the 5 part black/ 1 part green sand I have. Or should I got with a print?

Just go to a pet store and get a background that's black. Don't paint it because then you can never change it.

I would do the same thing. Definitely DON'T PAINT!! I bought one of my tanks used and the guy who had it before me painted it blue. I bought it thinking I could hopefull get it off...WRONG!!...and I hate the shade of blue it is. Just something to think of if you ever decide you don't like the color you painted it...it's on there for good.

Tank looks good though. I think the black background would look cool.

Get a nice black background, a razor blade, and some 3m crystal clear tape. Works great in hiding all the wires and painted walls behind your tank.

I most always use paint. Nice tank. Need something that adds some height also.

Nice upgrade. A backround will really make it look even better. Try to match stuff in your tank in a backround..

i would go with a black also. and contrary to what people have been saying, as long as the tank is glass you can use a simple glass scraper to easily remove the paint without scratching. very easy to do and paint looks great.

here's some updated pics since I first posted. I have added some shells I found at a local beach and added some new inhabitants. Since like 10 of you are recommending a background, I'm going to buy one today and post more pics later.

Looks like a p. elongatus, definitely not a kenyi. Sometimes when they are stressed parts of their body turn yellow/orange.

bigger tank is better. I would add a plain background, black or very dark blue, a ton more rockwork, and break up the rocks so that you don't have stacks of the same rock on each side of the tank - more natural like. Get more height in there - i.e. more rocks.

Black background would look very nice with those rocks.
