so i just picked up a cray from my lfs i got one a couple years ago and it turned out to be a marmor krebs, which is the only species that produces young without a partner. Well i ended up gettin board of it and my hundreds of babies and fedd them all to my other fish, but i have a spare tank now and picked up another cray. He told me he has had it for a couple years but forgets what species it is and sold it to me for 5 bucks, i am pretty sure it is a marmor, but will post some pics later to make sure and if it is will probably have 100's of them again in no time, so if anyone in Canada is interested then let me know and i will let you know when i have babies

Ps sorry about the double post you can delete the other one

cant realy tell with the pics as they are not to good a shot, or clear.

I have no idea about identifying them, but these sound really cool.
How large of a tank are you keeping it in?
Have you seen them be agressive to small fish, shrimp and snails before?

I have one in my Ameca tank, it's a pretty cool character.

Something to remember though:
It's an incredibly invasive species, much more so then normal crayfish which are quite invasive themselves. It can survive and breed in temps ranging from the high 30's to the high 80's, which means it can live pretty much anywhere the water doesn't freeze solid :P

It also reproduces happily all by itself, that being one of the things that is interesting.

This combination means though that you should have a plan for the offspring, be it something that eats them, tons of tanks, the freezer, or whatever.

What i can see of that one looks very much like a marbled crayfish, that being the english version of their name.

yeah i am about 75% sure it is as i used to own one but i got board with it and the young like i said and fed them to my oscar.
O and to answer sandman33's question the one i had before was definatly not to fish friendly, in fact i had a 1 inch fry pretty much kill a 4 inch blood parrot, and this one was eating a full grown mollie at the pet store (it is about 3 inches at the moment)
And as for shrimp you definatly don't want to mix shrimp and crays, shrimp have some sort of bacteria or parasite in them that kills crays

Crayfish in america tend to be infected with a fungus that is fatal to most crayfish outside the US.
I've never heard of shrimp catching it or shrimp infecting crayfish with anything.
