View Full Version : Mineral Deposit removal?

I have used Vinegar to remove the mineral buildups on my florescent bulb, but is Vinegar safe to use on the aquarium glass with fish still in the tank? If I let the water line fall below the mineral deposit line then use the vinegar to remove, would that work?

Any suggestions would be great, we must have some hard water up here :)

On flat glass a razer blade works quite nicely.
The flexible rectangular type, not the kind that go into box cutters and such.

Ok, I used a flat knife before, but was kind of a pain in the butt. Thanks, I'll go out and buy some razors.

Vinegar is acidic and could be harmful to your fish. I would use single edge razor blades. No need to drop the water level, the razoring actually works better when the glass is wet.

Good to know! I live in PA also and our water is a bit on the hard side as well.
