So, I started posting a little before I properly introduced myself. Apologies for that.
My name is Pia, and I'm the happy keeper of a 36g bowfront full of lovely fish. In my tank right now are 6 black phantom tetras, 6 red eye tetra, 4 sterbai corydora, 2 albino (bronze) corydora, 1 oto (his buddy just passed, sadly), 2 checkerboard cichlids (both female and I'm looking for a male so if anyone sees one I'd love a heads up), 1 GBR (I named him Ulysses, and he's the only one named right now).
I live in NYC, so I've been learning to deal with the soft water and its specific issues. I keep a 30% weekly WC schedule. The last two WC's were pretty traumatic on my fish because of the soft water issues, but research on the board helped me pin down the culprit. I'm going to have to be much more vigilant about cleaning my filter, it seems (an eheim 2215 that I will now be rinsing weekly instead of monthly).
I'm fairly new to the hobby, so I am always eager for suggestions and new ideas.
