View Full Version : ARGH !! the glass tops came today and they do not fit !

I am goong to have to take them to a glass shop tomorrow and have them cut down, has this happened to any of you? I was so happy when my orders started arriving, but then it came to disapointment when the tops were about 1/4 to wide to fit on, and all the plant foods came frozen :wall: :wall: :wall:
did you order a perfecto top for your aga?? lol

Bummer Granny.
Should be only a minor setback. A glass shop will probably only charge you a couple dollars to cut them to shape.

yeahg, I figure its worth it to have them cut down and they will fit fine, I was just disapointed all the plant foods were frozen. thats just crazy since they were sent fed ex :eek: I called doc fosters, there sending me out all new bottles :)
which plant food you talking about??

2 liter huge lol well you will still be able to use it no matter if it was frozen or not

yes the bottle is huge, now I see where some plants do not like it, now what? I have these coming for my tanks,

I do not know what it will now harm or kill, so now I may have a bottle of prime ( acually 2 giant bottles of excel and no tank to use it in :(

can use it to treat algae if you ever get any (hope you dont)
You dont want to go the diy co2 route?? fairly easy, i told you before i can help you with it step by step.

yes, but I have HOB filters and I was told these would not work with CO2. I upgraded my lights to 135 watts and everything. I upgraded on all the tanks, I just spent 500.00 on stuff :eek: I am not the brightest bulb out there any more. So I am just trying to make the tank look nice and add a few plants and ferts and hope for the very best.

i have HOB filters on both of my tanks and dont have a problem with co2 at all, even if my water level is down an inch or 2 to make the overflow splash my plants are still enjoying the co2 thats in the water.. i mean they wouldnt be pearling every night if they werent getting enough co2..

diy co2, water+sugar+yeast = about 3 week supply of co2... avrg cost well not sure depends in what bulk you get the sugar/yeast

the glass isnt tempered, is it? if so, they won't be able to cut it.

nope, it was done today and all is well I believe. I will knwo when I leave here at work and go try them on. looks like a good job, cost me 12.00
jeez 12 just to cut a small piece off... thats crazy

I wish LOL! no 8:00 and I am free free free!! in the mean time its to hard to concentrate with 2 little guys running around plying for my attention. I get on here here and there when there busy. when there in bed I finally get to breath LOL!

WOw, the 10 gallon versa top does not fit, its to small. what the heck? does someone cut therse with out measurments?? I put the top on it and its barely enough to keep the lid on.

Wow 12 bucks to cut it plus the cost of the tops? I usually go and get glass custom cut at my local hardware store...got all 4 pieces I needed for my 55 for about 9 bucks. You pay for the glass, they cut it for free. Sure you don't get the fancy hinges and handles and everything, but you can buy those separately if you really want them...I just skip them and glue/silicone on my own handle.

Yeah, I could have done that, but with the glass shop here charging 12 bucks to cut, I am betting they charge an arm and leg for glass. the tops fit so well now, I am very pleased!!
