I took a few fire mouth out today and gave them away, I did how ever see the pet store here has 5 corys and they look good. I was wondering, are they ok with one lone female fire mouth ?
if not , I will add them to my 10 gallon tank but are my baby shrimps safe? the shrimp are pretty tiny. thanks :)

They should be fine in the 29g. Cories are peaceful and adults are too big for a FM to eat, and their dorsal fin is spiked for extra protection. FM's aren't very agressive, and would probably leave the cories alone.

However, I wouldn't put anything but panda, dwarf (both species), and pygmy in the 10g. And there's a good chance the baby shrimp would be eaten.

thanks, I am glad. I will not put them in the 10 I will put them in the 29 to give the tank some movement. the firemouth was so beaten up by the male she is re cooperating. but looks better every day! there now re homed some where else.
I will take a pic when I get them at 4:00 and you can tell mewhat they are ok :) thanks

The corys are adorable!! I got 4 of one kind and one of another. they all go togehter all over the tank. the fire mouth looks happy to have tank mates. poor girl, she does look better to.

I also got a bristlenose today and a gold pleco, she is the prettiest yellow I have seen . but I went to look to see what kind she is, and there is like several gold pleco's I will try to take a pic, maybe someone here can tell me what kind she is. I am loving my ew fish today!! And my kids, there thrilled with the baby plattys, and the red shrimp. there all so small . they have named the fish, now trying to name the shrimp LOL!

Just a word of caution- over 20 years ago I had firemouths with neons, corys etc. and they were fine for about 6 months, until I gave them a feed of live daphnia- after that they ate all the neons (about 10) within a day, and then over the next week killed all the corys despite the fact that they were way too big to eat- after being given live food the firemouths regarded anything that moved as a potential food item...

so you gave live, or frozen daphnia? I give frozen. All the fish are well today, I was thrilled to wake with all my babies alive and active.

i keep cherry shrimp with cories with no issues. if you have good cover that would be fine. the cherries are shipped (assuming you bought them online) as juveniles in order to ease in their acclimation and prevent die-offs from a change in water conditions

I love the little shrimp, there hard to see but when we find one we are tickled pink. I put the corys in the 29 gallon tank. I have several driftwood that came, but the tanis is pretty bad so not sure when it can go into the tanks.
How long dies it usually take??

i have had pieces in my tanks for a couple of years that still leech tannins. I prefer the tannin look and it does not harm any fish. If you do frequent water changes it will keep the tinting to a minimum. Also running carbon can help to remove the discoloration if you don't like it.
