Can they suck in wafers like other fish can, or do they need to scrape them? I know mine can suck in crisps, but how big do they have to be, and if they can just suck up shrimp pellets and algae wafers as a whole?

if something is small enough to fit in their mouths they will suck it in and chew it. larger items have to be scraped.

I just did zuccini, the pleco is all over it. I just shut out the lights. last night I dropped a wafer on the bottom of the shrimp and snail tank, we were all excited to see so many snails on the wafer and enjoying it, it was hilarious, it was like a football pileup. I never knew this hobby could be so fun and such a learning experience.
I say shut the lights off, then drop a wafer down, he will find it, or a veggie :)

It matters when the tin foils see it and eyeball the pleco the entire time waiting for that one chance for it to slip!

Just a quick question. How big are the tinfoils in your tank and how big is your pleco? The reason I'm asking is that my tinfoil barbs murdered my 6-inch common pleco when they grew to about 4-5 inches. So you may want to keep an eye on them. Mine could probably be just an isolated case case better be safe right? :grinyes: Good luck. SOrry for the hi-jack.

Lights off works for most, but I have a garbage disposal aka orange oranda who CONSTANTLY patrols the tank day or night for food. He ALWAYS finds the tab. I put some lettuce in there and hopes he eats it. I also dropped a tab hopefully hes eating it

My tins are all about 8" and the pleco's little over 10". There more afriad of the pleco during feeding time because he always goes after them.
