Java Fern and Cycling

I'm not sure if this is a stupid question but I guess I have asked them before.

Should, or can, Java Ferns be introduced to an aquarium during cycling? If not when? Before or after fish (Mbunas)?

All plants can be introduced into the tank when cycling, they will actually speed up the cycling.

Not to mention, during a fishy cycle, it can help keep ammonia down. although a single java fern wouldn't have that much of an impact on the amount of ammonia or nitrates.
