I am wondering whether anyone has collecting plants from places such as waterfall / lake for planting in aquarium. I found plant such as Anicharis (a lot) in lake and ponds but they looks dirty and have never try it. Anyway, what other aquatic plants can be found at natural lake and waterfall I can collect? and do they work in aquarium? I feel really crazy asking such questions.

I have collected valisineria, hornwort, cabomba and various pondweeds.

Some of these have survived my bleach dip and are growing in my tanks now.

Good luck hunting.

I used the suggested method of 19:1 water to bleach. I may have dipped some for too long before rinsing in tap water and then letting them sit in a bucket of water treated with Prime.

or you can use jungle labs clear water it has potassium pomegranate in it and will also kill unwanted snails etc and less stress on the plants than a bleach dip.

It you do use it it is purple so use gloves 15min and you can rinse or not and into your tank.

Happy hunting

Ive just started doing this myself and i highly recommend it. I use the 19:1 bleach dip method with a prime chaser.

Have fun and be repectful of the surrounding area
