Hey guys,

Just wanted some ideas on where and how to place the filter output in the tank. I have a Fluval 304 for a 29 gallon tank and it has a pretty strong output flow. I've already truned down the output flow some, but would like ideas for where to place the output in the tank. At first i had the output in the middle of the tank just pointing straight forward but that seemed to just make strong current on both sides of the tank. So now I turned the spout to aim left. This makes a lot of current on the left side of the tank but leaves the rest of the tank pretty calm.

Also I was wondering what a spray tube was. My tank is planted and I've read a lot of postings refer to a spray tube. What does this help with? Do you all recommend I get one?

Thanks

I have a fluval 302 and the output it pretty much is set in its ways and refuses to stay where I put it so it is currently smack in the middle of my tank and is going diagonally down to the bottom. It looks bad but my fish seem to love it because this way they can swim in the current. You're supposed to have it horizontally along the back of the tank right near the water level but it wouldn't stick for me!

i have mine set to go sort of lengthwise across the top of the tank. my inlet and outlet are in the same corner so i figured if i directed the current against the far wall it would push some debri back to the inlet on the rebound.

as far as a spraybar, it's basically another kind of outlet. instead of having the nozzle the fluval comes with you use a fairly long tube with a bunch of small holes in it, usually all in line. :)

yashinfan... a fluval 302? how old of a model is that? :D

My output for 204 is facing right about 2 inches under the surface... gives a nice current that my White Cloud Mountain Minnows like to swim in :) It circulates water but keeps the other side calmer for relaxation and less energetic fish :)

Eep! Sorry! It's a Fluval 203. I'm dyslexic or something? Anyway, mine didn't come with suction cups so mine cannot stick anywhere. I tried to ducttape it but it didn't work :(
