I wonder if it might be a fun thread for us to talk about funny snake oil type products. What are some of your favorite snake oils to mock?
Tonight I got a kick out of these detoxifying foot pads they're selling on late night commercials. One brand even claims "beware of cheap imitations!"

Any product that says "Wait, call now and we will double the offer, get 20 not 10, for just $2.99..."

If you actually buy one if these and think it will work you deserve to waste the money. If increasing mileage was really that simple the manufacturers would have done that decades ago.

My friend swears by those Hercules Hooks from TV. His mother got some from some where and he had to go over and install them. Said they were harder to get threw the drywall then what the commercial led to believe. But he said once installed he could hang his 200 pound body of a couple of them.
In high school he would get drunk and watch Ron Popeil's commericals for cookware...

Can't agree with you there. The tap water around here makes me feel nauseated.
Though I will say on this topic that the waters made by Coke and Pepsi really grind my gears. I love how the idea came about - someone realized that instead of emptying the tanks of filtered water at the end of the day, they could just sell it at the same price they sell the finished product and make an insane profit. It actually worked. People are dumb enough to buy unflavored, uncarbonated Pepsi or Coke.
There is a difference between spring water and "drinking water."
