I bought a 38g(ive done the calculations, it really is 38g) used last year. It came with a stand that fits perfectly. I decided that I should replace the tanks to be safe(its old and used). The problem is that I havent seen 38g tanks mentioned anywhere except in one of the "for dummies" books. Do they exist? The tank seems commercial with the black trim on the top and bottom, my 36 inch hood fits perfectly on top. I really dont want to go down to a 30g long, that is the only other tank that fits the base of the stand. Anyone have one of these, or am i going to have to have one made?
Dimensions 36x12x22.5(round about)

Check out glasscages.com. They should have it, and it not, you can probably get it custom. I have not ordered any tanks from them, but I have only heard good things about them. Worst case, try a 40 breeder.

I think the 38 that I have seen was the same footprint as a 29 but about 6 inches taller. It is not a common size but is a very nice extra tall show type tank.

I have a used 38, same footprint as a 30 long. It has "light oak" trim, I've also seen them available new at the lfs.

I know our Petco carries 38 gallon All-glass tanks so if you have a petco you could try there:)

Thanks people, glasscages.com was an awesome website, they just wont ship a glass tank, and i really dont want am acrylic with a 2 year old ready to scratch it. I might have to try Petco, they arent as good for prices as the several LFS in LAs vegas(always a 1$ a tank, they dont mark them up at all), but if i can find it I might have to. Thanks again.

Why do you consider the current 38 gal tank "old and used"? What is the reasoning that you feel it needs replaced?

my tank is used, i bought it over craigslist. It also has several small chips on 3 of the 4 corners, nothing to major, mostly cosmetic for now. I just want to be careful, i am moving in month and didnt want to take any chances on the tank sustaining more damage so i figured ill just get a new one set up for the new house.

The 38 gallon is listed, and I've seen them for sale in stores many times. If you like extra height, you could also upgrade to the 45 gallon (36x12x24). I have this tank myself so I know that your stand and accessories will work with it, as I upgraded to it from a 30 long. Can you ask any of your lfs's to special order the tank for you? The store I work at will order anything (and I mean ANYTHING) for a customer as long as the customer pays up front.
If you are worried about your old tank, why not just reseal? It's a pain, but also MUCH cheaper.

From that listing on aqueon, it looks like I have been seeing 37s not 38s. As far as the suggestion to get a 45, I have one and love it. It seems very tall for its length and depth but it looks great. It is deep enough to be a bit of a pain to gravel vac or to plant new plants. You end up wet to your armpits to put a plant in the gravel and even then you can barely reach. Got mine at the late summer dollar a gallon sale at Petco so it was not too expensive.

The 37 gallon that's listed is a 30" tank. You'll have to scroll down one more listing to see the 38 specs.

You could just fill up this "old" tank and let it sit on cork for a few days to see if it leaks or cracks, and if it doesn't, I'd say it's as safe as any new tank.
