It's doing quite well, with aerial roots everywhere. Recently I noticed that much of it is no longer attached to the substrate! Several stems simply terminate in more aerial roots above the soil. Ten months ago when first planted it was firmly anchored and would even send out horizontal runners. Is this sort of thing normal with Wysteria? I'm thinking of cutting off the upper stems and replanting. It looks better without those aerials everywhere.
Again, thanks for the help.

Mine wouldn't stay down either. I added 20 pounds of very fine gravel to my 55. You know, some that would match, and they are staying down much better.

See the mix?

Very helpful; will consider adding to the substrate, which is currently 2" of Aqua-Soil with 1/4" of Floramax gravel on top. And here's an interesting article which suggests that what we are seeing might simply be just part of the life cycle of a mature, healthy Wysteria: http://www.paghat.com/wisteria.html
