I'm going to set up a 50 gallon AGA (36x18x18) reef tank soon. I already have the tank and stand. It's the usual AGA pine stand, so there isn't a ton of room under there. I know I want to go as big as possible so I was thinking about using a 29 gal DIY sump, if it will fit, otherwise I'll use a 20 long. I'm really interested in seeing plans and photos of others' DIY sumps because I'm just having problems visualizing how it's all set up- I'm really not that great at DIY but there's no way I'm shelling out the cash for a premade sump.:silly: So show off your pics, please!

if you go with 29 gal make sure you have enough rooms to take out equipments between your sump and tank cause i had a little problems taking my heaters.

heres my sump.

you want to go as big as possible with the sump. i was planning on a 20L at first, then a 29g for under my 75g and ended up with a 40 breeder :) here's a pic... it's finished but not up and running yet.

the water comes down and splits off im shooting for about 25% going into the refugium and 75% going across to the other side into the skimmer section. then the water will meet in the return section (middle) and get pumped back up into the tank. the design came from here http://www.melevsreef.com/acrylics/sumps/f/sump_f.html a site that was invaluble in the design of my sump.

Nice, folks! Remember, I only have the AGA pine stand 36" so it's a 29 or 20L at best.;)

Nice sumps!

Yup, less than 1/16th on each side. I originally started with a DIY acrylic 30g but it leaked so I measured a bit and found that a 55 would squeak through with just a bit of force. Heh! Bigger is always better, right.................

wow schigara your not kidding it's jammed in there huh! i can't believe you can even fit that under there!
