I was wondering this today, do you really trust when buying from sellers on line? no not buisness or companys, I mean in the wanted ADs and for Sale Ads . I mean I have ordered a couple of times from MG and she is a well trusted seller and I always get my stuff on time, but what do I know about some who pop on and have this or that for sale, can I trust that I will get what I paid for? I am usually pretty trusting, but I did get burned recently and still trying to work at get something we had agreed apon and I paid for..
so my question is.. have you been burned lately? and do you trust easily ?

Mg is saying he is not a woman, lol. Its a crap shoot when you buy from someone online. I have not been burned, but many have. I try and buy from people who have a reputation (if its on a forum) or feedback.

Oh LOL! sorry :lipssealedsmilie: MG
I also look at feedback on ebay, but when buying from sellers on a message board its a crap shot.

thats why i deal with paypal. i have bought lots of things online. there is always a risk. just some times your saving so much more its worth the risk and others you just cant get what your looking for local so you have to take it.

i'm about to get some first-hand experience on this tomorrow (first time responding to an ad in a forum)... i'll let you know how it turns out...

for me it's a question of risk vs. reward... how much are you willing to risk for the potential reward? that's the question i would always ask...

risk verse's reward? like lets take a gamble and see who comes out on top ? I hate to take risks when I see hard earned money of mine go right out the window. I have done paypal for years, I am glad about it, and have been burned on ebay but in the old days they( ebay) did something about it. today they over look to much in my opinion.

Thats why I wish PayPal had something like a half now half when delivered and the delivery would have to be trackable. Once UPS or FedEx showed that it was signed for it would release the other half.. The seller would also see this money in a "hold" state.

thats actually a great idea.

At times just have to go by what people offer you, do your hw before you order..

I'll honestly say I'm not very careful when it comes to online purchases, but as of yet, and fortunately, I've never been screwed. . .

So far so good. . .

Now let's see what'll happen with Ebay's new rule, "sellers can't leave negative feedback towards buyers."...

My recent experience with a seller now has me a little more cautious about buying things from just anyone. Feedback is always a good start in making a decision on whether or not to trust the seller, but there is still always that slight chance that you just might become their first negative experience. I, myself, am wishing there was a feedback system here on AC for the vendors. I hope you get your current problem worked out, Granny. It truly is like a crap shot... I guess you have to ask yourself if it's really worth it taking the chance of losing your money.

like i said, you have to weigh the risk. a really really really good deal might be worth the gamble. while saving $5 wouldn't be worth the gamble.

so i picked up my purchase today and everything went well. i bought from a guy who posted in the classifieds here. it was his first post on the site so i had a little concern, but we did the transaction in person so i got to see everything before paying. if things didn't look right, then all i would have lost was the driving time and gas money to meet him. fortunately everything was pretty much what i expected and at a good price.

for online purchases, i will almost always buy from a big box retailer over an individual seller. i find that most of the time the money i save is not worth the potential hassle. if i do buy from an individual, then i would much rather do it in person. i'm just way too untrusting though :)

I try and only buy from people with a "reputation". On a forum, I stick to buying from people who I feel like would have something to lose by not following through. I am wary of buying from people with few posts and no feedback.
