Save Coney Island!

I'm not sure how many of us on AQ are from the New York Area, but Coney Island, once America's amusement capital, is being eyed by developers set on gentrification. im a fan of coney island but that place needs to be reconstruct. its so old and not safe at all anymore.

While some of the rides look precarious in the winter pictures, I assure you that Coney Island is safe and passes annual inspections. Take for instance the Cyclone, a wooden roller coaster that celebrated its 80th year at Coney Island last June. There has been a single death on the Cyclone, and that was in the 1970s. The individual was suicidal and stood up to jump when the coaster reached the top of its first drop. It started to move and he hit his head on a beam at the top. I'm unsure of whether he fell to the ground, but I believe the cause of death was head trauma.
