Howdy,
We've got a few plants in the tank that the fish are a little partial to eating. Most of them aren't too bad, although one of them is pretty much eaten up now.
I was just wondering if there's any tips for slowing down the munching on the plants? A friend of mine tells me she used to put a couple of small lettuce leaves in the tank and the fish went for those instead of the plants. Does anyone else have any handy diversions for them?
Thanks!

How often do you feed them??
Some fish once they find out that a plant is tasty it will be tough to redirect its attention on something else..
But you can try lettuce/spinach

if a whiptail is a farowella its a big plant eater and the pleco will go after swords sometimes but maybe you have snails that u dont see or the plants are dying due to improper conditions?

feed them vegetables and fruits each day and then they shouldnt bother plants that much. Usualy fish that eat plants go for soft leaved plants and not the hard type. Hope this helps.

Ive got mainly livebearers, algae eaters and danios in my tank and I've had no trouble with plants being eaten I guess because I have at least 7 large plants of different varieties in my 4 ft tank. The only time I had problems was when I had to put a rather large goldfish in and he stripped the tank clean. Now he's removed I have had to start from scratch again, but try some chopped boiled lettuce and the occasional bloodworm to keep them happy

Cam: IMHO (and this is what I did but unfortunately after my plants were decimated) ascertain which fish are eating your plants and rehome them.
