Heyya folks. I was hoping to be getting some more corals over the next couple of months and was thinking about some yellow polyps. Providing that I can move them as close or as far away as they need to be, would 96 w be ok for them? Thanks alot for any help. Any other suggestions would be great too. Currently I'm thinking about some xenia and I already have one bullseye mushroom.

I think the light's enough for yellow polyps. All I know is that they can sting their neighbors and do better if they get fed mysis or other meaty food to supplement their zooxanthellae.
You might also consider green star polyps, pachyclavularia. Easy to keep, bright green (if you get a good colony). Just give them a lot of flow.

I bought a nice little colony of the yellows yesterday and they already seem to be doing great! Thanks for the help. I feed my fish brine shrimp and a krill/silverside (finely chopped) twice a week. Would this be enough to sustain them, or should I use some of the Phyto-Plex that I already have every now and then? And I have them about 9-12" from the 96w bulb. Is this too close/far? Thank you very much. And has anyone ever owned any "tongue coral"? I saw some yesterday and wasn't planning to buy it, but it was weird enough that I must inquire
Cool! The yellow polyps are supposed to like meaty foods, so brine shrimp, chopped silversides and mysis would be good. They are probably fine where they are, just watch that they keep extending.
I have never kept tongue coral, but I know that they live on the sandbed and will move around. Only problem I have read about is that they can bump into other corals and either sting or get stung, depending on who they hit. Because it will be all the way at the bottom, you probably won't have enough light for it, though.

Thanks for the help. Indeed I do! It came from Amazon on Monday and I love it! I plan on adding xenia or anthelia (perhaps the green buttons) in September or October sometime. Thanks again for the help!
