I have a 50 gallon, and i would like to have some plants/ invertibrates. But the thing is that my hood only holds one flouresent bulb that puts out 40 watts. eventually i will upgrade to better lights and eccetera, but for now i was wondering if there is anything i can grow. with only 40 watts.

Most caulerpa macro-algaes would grow just fine under 40 watts. Depending on tank size you may be ok with some mushroom corals, but you'll want to do some water testing first. See how caulerpa does.

So what sort of water tests should i do and how long sould my tank have been set up for before i add these creatures.

For caulerpa, just throw it in. With the exception of a low pH, I don't think they'd care about anything else. They only help to reduce nitrate, so no problems there. For shrooms, I'd check for pH, alkalinity, nitrate, etc. Just to make sure everything's normal.

Well everything is good test wise except for ph i have a high range ph scale test and the water in the test tube doesnt match any of the colors on the chart. My fish are doing fine and my craps and snails are living it up. Is this mabye something faulty with the test or do ijust have low ph my nitrate nitrite ammonia and salinity are all perfect. If i do have low ph What can i do about it. I am supposed to be putting some new additions in my tank tommorow. So what should i do. Please help i want my new fish to enjoy their new found Paradise.
