Sand question?

I am in the process of setting up a 55-gallon tank with fish, live rock, and limited inverts.

Two Maxi-jet powerheads
Aqua C Remora skimmer
200 Watt heater
Base rock
140 watts of light (white and actinic)

I bought bags of Aragonite and put it in the tank then I placed my base rock on it. My question is, did I buy the right thing? Is Aragonite the type of sand that I need? It seems very fine and packed down. It does have little pieces of shell, etc. in it. The water is very cloudy (I've had water in there three days)

Did I do the right thing? (Thanks for putting my mind at ease!)

Argonite sand is fine. Some people experience cloudiness with sand for several days or even weeks. Personally, my water was cloudy for a day before clearing up nicely. Depending on how the water was added, you can stir up quite a lot of sand. I place a bowl in the tank, and add water to it, letting the overflow spill over and thus not disturbing the sand too badly. Just keep your powerheads on and the water should clear up soon.
