I just had to share, because I must be doing something right, right?! It's sitting up on top of my rocks and is all out and flowing in the current and looking so pretty. Today I found that it's already had a little one move in on the rock below it! I don't know how it did it either, because it's several inches below the bottom of the rock the polyps are actually on. But whatever, I'm just glad to see my new critters seem to be pretty happy!

One of my little $5 frags I got a couple weeks ago has opened all up now too. It stayed in for the first week and I wasn't sure if it was going to do anything, but now it's staying open every day. It's got a neon green glowing center with 8 reddish brown little arms. Hopefully it will start to spread out to the rock it's sitting on.

Yay! Just had to share my excitement!

OH and my citron goby ate a few bites of arcti-pods today! These aren't live, so that was super exciting to see him dive at the food and get a couple of bites. He only did it the one time, but I'm trying to target feed him, so hopefully he'll start to settle in more and keep eating more and more as we go! I wanna fatten this little cutie up!

Thanks for listening!

Yup.. Once they start spreading and encrust on the rocks, it can become a nightmare.. some people like to see it everywhere but the problem is that it might grow on top of other corals, especially the stonies.

I have mine away from the rocks. That way, if it spreads onto the sand, it would be easy to harvest and give away.

You know, with all my experience, and years of my reef tank running, I can not for the life of me get green star polyps to spread. I have had 1 rock with some really nice bright green ones and that still look the same as the day I bought them. Meanwhile my richordias have multiplied about 100 times, seriously, and so have my zoas abd xenias. Weird huh? I guess it is like one of the guys at a LFS near me that can keep any sps/lps but can't keep any anemone for more than a month in his 240G.

You must be doing something right. :)

:D

Well, I think it's pretty and I don't plan on buying anything else for a while, except I'd like some pink ricordia if I come across it and can afford it, so I'll just let it do it's thing for now. I don't plan to keep SPS anyway, at least not anytime soon, since my light couldn't support them. I'd like some zoanthids and might look for some of those next, especially some orange and pink ones. Maybe I'll move the main rock the stars are on down to the sand and see if they like it. That would make a pretty "lawn" in the tank.

Hey - I think they're pretty too. I got one 2 weeks ago and haven't noticed it moving onto other rocks but I wouldn't mind if it did. Love the flowing movement it has. I jsut started my first reef tank - so far I have the green star, a zoe and a beautiful leafy (purple) leather coral. I am going to try a mushroom this weekend (also have 5 snails and two clowns - no more fish for a while - I will be patient!)
