I still don't believe the first link saying snakeheads eat humans. That is stretching the truth.:shakehead: First, piranhas, now snakeheads?

lol...agree about humans, small animals?

debate about c argus is because thats a coldwater variety of snakehead, assumption being its the only species that could survive here...

People in Thailand fish for snakehead while being submerged up to waist-deep in the water. So I don't think snakeheads killling people is a problem.

But it can decimate a large population of the native fish species for sure. :)

How come the number seems to be always increasing? First it was 2 days w/o water, then 3.. and now 4. Next thing you hear they survive a month without water hehehe :)

And about the guppies.. what I read is that they are being invasive in some mexican waters. Trying to breed with small native mexican fish (non-livebearers) and in turn damaging the reproductive organ of the native fish making it harder for them to breed. (Read it on the other side sorry.. you can check it out mg).

With regards to the small animals.. I think the snakehead might chomp on them hehe :)

What is that first link? A tabloid? :)

There was a show on the history channel last week that I watched, documenting the spread of C. argus in the Potomac river, it was pretty interesting.

And this, well....yes it is an actual movie.

Everyone swims in the ocean full of fish that could eat ya,not too scary a snakehead, only feshwater predator. Pretty sure they will eat fish and eachother before searching land for animals and kids..Pretty Dramatic shows on them..I agree native species will suffer, and may be introduced to diseases. Probably mess up ecosystem, but all will recover as in evolution..

I think it was called Fishzilla, something something snakehead

Sploke

sorry, it was on National Geographic channel, called "Fishzilla: Snakehead Invasion"

A snakehead has teeth like a shark, a taste for blood and even walks on land. It is an insatiable alien predator that can obliterate the food chain and overpower native life. It mysteriously showed up near a small Maryland town and now can be found coast to coast. Scientists are sounding the alarm. In Fishzilla: Snakehead Invasion, it is a showdown of man vs. fish as scientists and anglers work together in the fight to defy it, control it - and stop it from destroying everything in its path.Sounds very dramatic, but it was actually pretty interesting. And, *gasp* they found out that the spread of the species spread from wild release of imported species by a) people who bought them as pets, and b) people who bought live specimens for food then changed their minds. They build it up the whole thing like no one has any idea where they could possibly have come from... "could this fish possibly swim across the atlantic ocean and populate North American waters?!?!?" :duh:
