you might be able to keep a peacock bass for a while but those things get about two feet long so they are not really compatable, imho, pacus and oscars will go well together. Personally pacus get way to big imho and are to skittish. I saw someone with a monster tank keep 3 silver arowanas with about three or four festae. I dont know the agression levels but I think his tank was so big it might have helped. Personally I would go with several different types of medium sized cichlids, JD, Green Terror, oscar, texas, Or maybe a breeding pair of jags, for a catfish I would go with the syndontis euperterus sp? As they are hardy and stand up to cichlids well. If you want an arrowana I have seen them go well with blood parrots, and I have also seen them with discus. But I dont know if I would go with them with the more agressive cichlid species.
The tank is too small for the peacock bass, arowana, and pacu. The other three would work. That would be a nice sized tank for frontosa IMO.

I agree. I dont see why so many people think its ok to keep fish that get 2+ feet (assuming the thread starter is talking about red belly pacus) in a 180 gallon tank. 180 gallons isnt much room if youre 2 - 4 feet long.

most people who get said fish do not intend on keeping them thier entire life cycle. I do not understand this either. Pacus as far as I am concerned should be removed from the hobby altogether. I have heard of many of them bieng caught in my area from the wild. I agree that those fish should not be kept in a aquarium that small.

Pacus make good eating!
2 Os and a Pleco (which is a cat) and one of the larger Doradid catfish would be appropro for that tank...as long as you are willing to change water a lot.
A smaller Aro (I think that the blacks are among the smallest) might go okay in a 180, but only if you keep it with maybe a single catfish.

A friend of mine had a steer named beef once. It made good eating as well, but his wife had a hard time letting go of it.
I would do a couple oscars with a shoal of 6 of your silver dollars and a pleco along with the doradid chil mentioned.
A black arowana may be one of the smaller but it still gets to 39 inches. That's over 3 feet. I don't think a fish that size would be happy in a 180 gal.
I agree that pacus should be removed from the hobby. There aren't many hobbyists that can provide a tank that would be large enough for a pacu.

Arowanas get very big. Even the Red or Green Arowana...they don't get very long, but they are fat and big. I had 2 in the past...they were just so big. Beside, Red and Green Arowana has been banded from hobbyist unless you have a lot of money to import one. Even then, they still need big space.
However, any arowana doesn't get to 3 feet within a year or 2 years. Once an arowana hits 1' mark, the growth speed slow a lot. My arowanas were 2 years old and just hit 14" mark, and they consumed a lot. If you want to find out more information on Arowanas, you can check out Arowana Club website.
Since you have 180g tank, you do have a lot of selection regarding Cichlids or any other fish.

if it were my tank I would put a JD, a GT, a Texas, and a breeding pair of convicts, heh, just to make things interesting.
